Free Tours By Foot: See DC Through New Eyes

Just because you live in the DC area doesn't mean you don't want to play tourist. Even as a resident of the DC suburbs, there's still always something new to explore in the nation's capital. However, since you're not an out-of-towner, you probably don't want to dish out lots of cash for a sightseeing tour. That's where Free Tours By Foot come in.

This tour company offers pay-what-you-want walking tours. Simply hop on one of the daily or weekly tours, enjoy the sights, and then pay the tour guide whatever you think he or she has earned at the end of the tour. From March to December, guides take groups out to explore iconic spots in the city like the National Mall, the Arlington National Cemetary, and the site where President Lincoln was assassinated. Some of their tours make pitstops according to an overarching theme, like the ghost tours and the historical scandals tours. A few times a week, Free Tours By Foot also offer excursions into historic Georgetown, Capitol Hill, Embassy Row, and Old Town Alexandria.
