Get outside for a rare and special experience at Moonwalk at Theodore Roosevelt Island. This evening hike promises a unique look at the natural beauty of the island as it is bathed in full moonlight.
The next Moonwalk hike takes place on Friday, June 29 at 8:30 p.m. A National Park Service volunteer will lead the 1.5 mile walk and point out the distinctive sights and sounds of the island at night. Tickets are $20, and all proceeds benefit the non-profit group devoted to preserving the Island. Participants should sign up in advance (visit the Facebook page and follow prompts to the Eventbrite site for tickets) and meet at the Virginia side of the footbridge leading to the island. Be sure to dress comfortably for the approximately 1.5 hour outing, and keep in mind that only the guide will be permitted to carry a flashlight. This hike is open to attendees over 16 years of age, and no pets are permitted.
